Holmes Beach had their first reading 8-25-2015 of the proposed ordinance. There is a work session Thursday, 8-27-2015 to discuss more details and the final reading of the ordinance is scheduled for September 8th, 2015.
We believe the largest concern of property owners in regards to the Holmes Beach ordinance revolves around future use for properties not grandfathered in for transient rental status. More specifically, the maximum occupancy for a future vacation rental which is NOT grandfathered in R2-R4 seems to be set at 6.
We encourage everyone to read the Holmes Beach Ordinance and communicate your concerns if possible in person at the 8-27 meeting or the September 8th final reading. If you cannot make the meeting please send an email or call one or all of the Holmes Beach commissioners.
One final note, Holmes Beach has approached vacation rentals in a positive fashion. The discussion has occurred over half a year and find they listen and weigh the pros and cons of the decisions before them for vote. I would encourage you to reach out and speak with them. They genuinely care about making the best decision they can for their City.
